1. Scroll down to June/July 2021 Part 1 of 2 and make sure that you have completed all of the activities. Continue to check the Flipgrid page periodically to be sure you view all 21 introductions from the cohort members and instructors (https://flipgrid.com/79c3c0f2, skip over the “Enter student username” field, click on the “Enter your guest password” link at the bottom of the screen, and then enter the password “ColoradoEE”)

2. Read each of the teams’ project descriptions (note: this item was added on 7/6).

3. Download this handout for use with the first two videos listed below. It is a fillable PDF, so you can either take notes on it electronically (be sure to save it) or print it out.

4. Watch the following three videos:

Video 1 – The Evaluation Process: Overview

The Evaluation Process: Overview Slides

Video 2 – The Evaluation Process: Step 1

Video 3 – Cause and Effect

5. Look for 3-5 research articles that can help you think about the impact of your program/service, participants’ experiences with your program/service, and/or best practices for implementing that program/service. This may be research specifically about that program/service in libraries and/or research about a similar offering in a community-based organization, parks or recreation centers, leisure activity, out-of-school learning environment, museum, etc. We suggest conducting a broad search that includes the library and information science field but also includes fields such as education, psychology, parks and recreation, etc. You will be looking for reports of research or evaluation studies, rather than articles about ideas for programs/services or reports of what others have done in their libraries. Bring the articles you find with you to the Kickoff Institute.

June/July 2021 (Part 1 of 2)

1. Record a personal introduction using Flipgrid by July 1. We have configured Flipgrid to allow each person in the cohort to record a 2-minute video. Please share your name, position, and library, and let us know one highlight from your time working in libraries. To access Flipgrid, go to https://flipgrid.com/79c3c0f2, skip over the “Enter student username” field, click on the “Enter your guest password” link at the bottom of the screen, and then enter the password “ColoradoEE.” The videos are available to everyone as soon as they are recorded, so be sure to check back periodically to keep up with all of the cohort members’ introductions.
